Im trying to save lots of space in my room, so i am wondering if it is possible to take this bunk bed:

Moving into a small studio..I really wanted to get a futon, but have heard it’s bad to sleep on for everyday. I want something less “intimate” looking for when ppl are over, if that makes sense, like to not have my bed basically in the living room, but it is a small studio, is it common? I’ll probably have to have something similar..what’s the difference between a “daybed” and a regular twin bed? The area where the bed/futon will be is 5 ft. width. Thanks ahead.

i think foutons are totally uncomfortable unless you spend a boatload on the mattress….

Daybeds are generally used for sleeping during the daytime (as the name suggests). However, daybeds also differ from standard beds in that daybeds are commonly used as a sofa, making them ideal for use in living rooms, family rooms, dens, and bedrooms. However, because of this rather thin definition, many may still confuse a daybed with a Futon. Daybeds generally do not transform from couch to bed like a futon, and are more decorative than a futon as well, utilizing accessories such as covers, skirts, throw pillows, and comforters.

A daybed frame is quite different from that of a standard bed. Daybed frames usually are comprised of two arms and a back, imitating the basic structure of a sofa. There are two common types of frames; the link spring, and the platform. The link spring frame is a metal grid that acts as a box spring, and is attached to the frame to support the mattress. There is usually a gap between the frame and mattress to allow for bedding and making the bed. As for the Platform-style frame, the mattress is supported by either a Bunkie board or a slat rack. A Bunkie board, resembling a box spring without the coil work but thinner, fits inside the frame and is designed to support the mattress evenly.

Daybeds may also incorporate a trundle unit as well. Trundle units allow for an extra mattress to be stored underneath, to be pulled out for extra sleeping space when needed. You can choose a pop-up trundle unit, where the extra mattress can be rolled and elevated to the same height of the daybed, converting it into a king-sized sleeping area. The other option for trundle units is a pull-out, where the extra mattress is rolled out on wheels or a glider. However, these do not elevate to the daybeds height, forcing you to sleep much lower to the ground.

Finally, there are 4 types of daybeds you can choose from: The Standard Daybed, Canopy Daybed, Chaise Daybed, and Sleigh Daybed.

Standard Daybeds are available in a number of styles, and can feature trundle bed additions. Contemporary styling and functional sleeping space are combined in this wonderful bunk bed. Top twin size bed and lower full size futon bed are great for siblings, sleepovers, and story time. Tips For Buying Futons For Everyday Use

Weather it’s a sun room, living room, den, or bed room, futons are flexible enough to go anywhere you need them to. They are perfect for smaller rooms where you need to optimize your space; especially a child’s room where they need plenty of play room. You are sure to find many uses for one of these.

With solid wood or metal frames you can find these to fit any decor. The metal frames seem to be the most flexible and have multiple setting for each side. The arms lower as well so you can have these in any position that suits your individual needs.

The wooden frames are heavier and less flexible but I find I still like them better. To me they seem sturdier plus I just like the look of the wooden finish. These go better in my more traditional home; the metal frames seem to be more suited to someone with a more contemporary style. Of course the wooden frames have some metal also; at least mine does but it’s hardly noticeable.

I find that my futons are great for over night guests. They fold out quickly and fold back up just as easily. I have had regular sofa beds and they were much more complex to work than these are. Plus I think they are more comfortable; the mattresses seem to be thicker than on a sofa bed. If you need to move the futon you can move the mattress and frame separately and that helps a lot.

In addition you can buy covers in various styles. This allows you to change the look of your futons if you like or if you redecorate. Some of the covers are multi-colored which I like because they hide stains better. You also have the added benefit of taking the cover off to wash. These are usually sold separately. You can use your own pillows or buy some to match your cover.

With the futon chairs available to match you can have a whole living room set of futons. The same covers are available for these. I even found a store that sells futon bunk beds. These have a normal bed on top and a futon on bottom. This is perfect for a child that has an occasional over night guest.

Futons are just very practical to have in your home. With all of the uses you can find for them you won’t have to worry about what you will do with it. Buy yours today.
